KTracy.com Web Traffic Stats for July 2022

Kevin told me to share this data with you. Analysis continues below.

Jul 2020 1,806 2,558 42,079 97,060 3.94 GB
Jun 2021 5,247 7,048 95,066 197,469 78.78 MB
Jul 2021 4,020 7,776 130,958 247,908 101.85 MB
Jun 2022 1,375 3,087 13,571 16,834 142.1 MB
Jul 2022 1,783 4,206 17,135 21,851 218.14 MB

In this data, we have added together the traffic that was going to HTTP and HTTPS (SSL). As shared previously, Awstats was counting http://ktracy.com and https://ktracy.com as two different websites. We suspect that the .htaccess file was changed at some point after we uninstalled WordPress because we had previously forced all traffic to KTracy.com to use HTTPS, but that changed in the .htaccess file after the switch to a static site. The important thing is that the June 2022 Traffic Stats are fixed, as is the data that led to some of the assessments therein.

These numbers aren't great, but they aren't discouraging, either.

The biggest thing you'll notice is the sharp drop in traffic from 2021 to 2022. We warned Kevin Tracy this could happen when he took KTracy.com offline from January until mid-June. What this particular data set doesn't show is that our traffic in April and May 2021 is very comparable to the traffic in June and July 2022. This is important because we first re-launched KTracy.com as a static site again on April 9, 2021. There was an enormous explosion of web traffic in months 3 and 4 of the launch. We're encouraged because June and July had a total of only 5 updates to the website and we still saw an enormous rise in traffic.

We're still cautious though because KTracy.com has historically seen a drop in web traffic through the summer. The number of unique visitors dropped 23.38% from June 2021 to July 2021. It dropped another 23.98% from July 2021 to August 2021.

Kevin Tracy was initially discouraged to see July 2022's web traffic only up 29.67% from June 2022 since the site was online twice as long in July (the site relaunched June 14, 2022). However, given the traditional lull in Summer traffic, we assured Kevin that the numbers weren't as bad as they might have seemed.

Looking forward, we're thrilled to announce that KTracy.com has returned to the front page of search engine listings. We'll discuss this more in a separate press release. However, it should only serve to help increase traffic moving forward.
