What China Learned Because the US Shot Down the Chinese Spy Balloon Too Late

The Pentagon's excuse for not shooting down the Chinese spy balloon floating over the Montana ICBM fields was that "There's a remote chance it might fall on someone or damage property." The chances of this happening in such remote areas were the same as the balloon falling on and sinking a ship off the coast of South Carolina. Only instead of driving to some remote location and maybe taking a bit of a hike in the Washington wilderness, the electronic components of the balloon are now deep in the corrosive salt water of the Atlantic Ocean where divers are searching for it and may or may not ever find it.

Trying to save face for President Biden, who was derelict in his duties during this invasion of American airspace, the Pentagon has said they took steps to limit what China could collect from their spy balloon and that it couldn't have gathered much more than a spy satellite. Additionally, because everything is about Donald Trump, the Biden Administration said that these balloons flew over the United States during the Trump administration, but went unnoticed and were only learned about later.

The difference obviously being that the Trump Administration didn't know about it and couldn't do anything as a result. The Biden administration doesn't get credit because some air defense squadron in the Air Force investigated a blip on a radar and then did virtually nothing about it.

What Did China Learn?

Firstly, the Pentagon has been so incompetent in handling this, I'm not convinced they did successfully jam the Chinese spy balloon. In fact, the Biden Administration is so untrustworthy at this point that I'm not even convinced they tried. However, let's give them the benefit of the doubt and say they did attempt to jam the transmitters on the spy balloon.

US Jamming Technology

Spycraft is an interesting game with a lot that happens behind the scenes that the public will never learn about (or at least won't learn about for several decades). To our knowledge, (and if true) this is the first time the United States has attempted jamming an adversary's sensors and/or transmitters in the modern era, especially in American airspace. If China managed to counter the jamming effort, the damage is immense because China would now know they can defeat American jamming techniques. If they failed to defeat it, they may have learned something about HOW we jam transmissions and/or sensors. That's the first step in learning how to defeat the American capabilities.

US Air Defense Weaknesses & Capabilities

If it's true that the US military and CIA failed to notice this Chinese spy balloon operation for years, then China has managed to exploit an enormous blind spot in our national security strategy. Depending on which sensors the balloon carried, it's probable that China detected whichever asset detected their balloon. If they did, they are probably aware of where many of these assets are and now try to plot courses around them. They've also learned something about the capabilities of these assets, especially if they weren't detected by the assets before.

US Response to Encroachments on its Airspace

In my last update about this situation, I listed the many times our adversaries shot down MANNED American spy planes when we entered their airspace. China learned that for as long as Biden and the limp-wristed Democrats who are responsible for our national security stay in power, the United States will fail to respond in a timely way to Chinese encroachments and aggressions.

This scandalously delayed response only emboldens the Chinese nationalists and hawks who have been scheming how to rape and pillage Taiwan and the South China Sea for decades.

What China Should Have Learned

Had the Biden Administration made the call to shoot down the Chinese spy balloon as soon as it was detected, China would have still learned about the assets that detected it. However, there is absolutely no chance they would have learned anything about our jamming tools in the continental United States because they wouldn't have been needed. Additionally, if the Biden team had shot down the spy balloon as soon as it was detected in American airspace, it would have sent a very clear message to the Chinese Communist Party and their hawkish, nationalist supporters that the United States took its national security extremely seriously.

The worst part about this is that the United States has been abandoning allies left and right for decades, including but not limited to the incredible friends we have in Kurdistan. The United States has now failed not only our allies, but also its own security.
