We're excited that we finally have enough data to compare multiple months from multiple years to begin tracking trends with more accuracy. Kevin Tracy has expressed some frustration with the traffic though and we're trying to find answers to explain it.

Something we'd like you to keep in mind when looking at the 2020 data is that the views and traffic to the KTracy.com Store were included in those numbers. With that in mind, we're actually pretty happy with the 2020 to 2022 comparison. We're a bit more perplexed by the incredible numbers posted in 2021; when the site was less optimized for SEO and mobile browsers, we had less content, and new content was added only two or three times a month. You would think that with all the new content, we would be at least matching those numbers if not totally destroying them. So something is up, we're just not sure what.

Also alarming is that web traffic usually increases from August to September, and while the total number of visitors was up, the number of page views was down. One possibility is that the hit our traffic took in August was actually softened by the spike in traffic mid-month by Kevin and Katie's engagement photos. Without a similar bump in the September traffic from a single photo gallery like that, we aren't really comparing apples to apples. If you take away the unique visits from that photo gallery in August, there would have only been 1,358 unique visitors for August.

Another consideration, and we hate thinking of it like this, but KTracy.com has been consistently hitting over 100 visits a day in the last half of September. August had 31 days. September only had 30. It stands to reason that if we added another day to September, the results would be better for the month. In fact, when you do the math, August averaged 46.9 unique visitors per day. September averaged 49.6. It's not a huge improvement, but it's better than the marginal improvement we see without the adjustment for the extra day in the raw data above. I think Kevin Tracy might have even been okay with the numbers.

One encouraging trend we noticed was an enormous jump (about 18%) in traffic starting on September 25th when we implemented sitemaps. If this continues, October should hopefully be a good month.

Still, there is a lot of work left to be done. Kevin Tracy has vowed to keep producing content for KTracy.com in its current format, more or less, until the end of the year. At the end of the year, when all of you are celebrating Christmas, Kevin and the KTracy.com Staff are going to pour over the detailed traffic numbers for each page and try to determine what content performs the best. At that time, we may begin to tailor KTracy.com towards that genre. Personally, I miss Kevin's horrible product review series on YouTube and kind of hope we have some additional product reviews to share on this site between now and the end of the year. I think the entire Staff at KTracy.com is interested in getting sample products to take home since our pay is pretty miserable and we are doing this entirely out of devotion to our the visionary Kevin Tracy.

With the site mostly Search Engine Optimized and not entirely sure what the problem is; we're going to keep generating content and hope that the sheer volume of content from Kevin Tracy and the staff here at KTracy.com begins a slow increase in monthly traffic.

In the meantime, you can help us out by sharing your favorite content on KTracy.com with your family and friends.
